8TW OPEN CALL THIS SUNDAY!

As we begin our second season of audio dramas, 8TW are looking for new actors to bring our characters to life!  We are an LGBT+ friendly group devoted to creating authorized fan adaptations of indie comics such as Strangers In Paradise and Trekker as well as original dramas that are geeky, sometimes funny, sometimes campy and overall fun.  These are presently unpaid positions, but we provide a fun, upbeat community that will allow you to grow in skill and versatility with little judgement.  We record 'live' in our own Discord channel usually on Sunday afternoons from 1-4pm EST.

We are having an open call for several of our projects for the next year on October 3rd at 2:30pm EST.  Below are thumbnails for some of the roles available during this season.

Strangers In Paradise: It's A Good Life

This is a fan adaption of Terry Moore's classic authorized by Mr. Moore.

MARGIE: A peer of FRANCINE and KATCHOO who becomes their landlord.  Supposedly sleazy by FRANCINE's estimation, but we're not sure...

QUENTIN THE VIDEO CLERK: A 32 year old...manager?..at a video clerk who maybe needs to find a life.

RACHEL: The new girlfriend of FREDDIE's friend CHUCK.  A little acerbic. As we will find out, she will have a much larger role in things (She carries over into other seasons)

THE REV: The Hawaiian shirt wearing 'official' who conducts the marriage between FREDDIE and CASEY...whether he's an actual man of the cloth is debatable, but he sure is touchy.

Elves

This is a feature length thriller, part of our VHS Box Theater line, and will be broadcast on Christmas day.

JULIE ERLKONIG: Our heroine, a virginal and idealistic young woman of good German stock.

MITCH:  The older security guard and something of a father figure to Julie; does double as Santa during the holidays.

MR. MANDEL: The owner of this, the last Mandel's Department Store.  A little downbeat knowing this will be the last Christmas his livelihood will be open.

NICHOLAS ERLKONIG: Julie's uncle, who runs the decaying mall that Mandel's is in.  A German immigrant, we will learn that he harbors a deep secret and a strange connection with MR. WILLIAMS that reaches back to WWII.

BAMBER (could be either gender): A young skate punk, slightly shellshocked but also a bit snarky.

KRUPSKI: The mall security guard who is insistent on driving out the skater kids.  It doesn't end well.

ELVES: Half Nazi monsters.  Impossibly beautiful.  Impossibly horny.  Should speak some weird gutteral--and Germanic--language.

DR. TANNENBAUM (could be either gender): Nazi scientist who, in the opening scene, we see forcibly marrying fertile women to elves in the hopes of creating a master race.

YOUNG NICHOLAS ERLKONIG: He's a lowly soldier in WWII, charged in the opening scene with persuading the Priest to do his damn job.

PRIEST: Slight uncooperative clergyman.

FEMALE SUBJECT: A woman who is married to an Elf.

CONSTRUCTION WORKERS (3)

SKATE PUNKS (2)

Mad World: Doom Asylum

This is a five part serial, part of our VHS Box Theater line.  The first part will be broadcast on the last week of October; the rest will be broadcast in late spring 2022

MOLLY SKALDUR: Youtuber, aspiring conspiracy theorist and paranormal investigator.  Fancies herself punk, but in the way rich kids think is punk.  Gets offed in the end of Part One...but she'll be back in the climax as a zombie.

SKINNER: Molly's cameraman who think he is Molly's boyfriend even though Molly thinks otherwise.  He's already realizing just what Molly thinks of him and might grow a set and tell her to get lost if she doesn't reach her grisly end.  He allllmost makes it to the end, and has a weird attraction to...

'REAL WORLD' KIRSTEN: One half of our final girl.  Attractive without being hot, a good student without being nerdy, your average 'girl next door' who you know would have been Laurie Strode's pal.

JOHNNY 'THE D IS FOR DEFENSE' DiNARDO: Kirsten's boyfriend, a defensive end for the local high school football team.  Hella hunk, dim but not stupid, has an incredibly good heart...which is why he's not long for this world when he tries to save Molly.  Don't worry; he'll be back as a (featured) zombie in the climax.

WEED:Stoner dude who frequently conquers his cowardice to come to the aid of his friends...which is why he won't make it to the end of the picture (except as, you guessed it, a zombie)

MARTIZA MURNAU: Mean, Mean, MEAN Girl who is the reason Kirsten and her friends are in this mess.  Pure diva through and through...so we're not too upset when she's slaughtered in Part Two...and yes, she comes back as a zombie, but Kirsten might not notice the difference.

'OTHER WORLD' KIRSTEN: The other half of our final girl, this Kirsten comes from a parallel dimension where every monster, demon and maniac exist.  This is Kirsten after having gone through a gauntlet of the worst Hard-R Horrors this cinematic world has to offer since Freshman year.  As such, she is super-talented when it comes to surviving and killing killers right back.

DR. BAVA: Our slasher monster, a shapeshifting undead fiend that was once the head psychiatrist for the Cyanna Institute who indulged in qustionable experiments.  All this mess is his fault...although to be fair, the government gave him money to be a monster.

DR. HOWARD PHILLIPS or DR. PHILLIPA HOWARD (can be either gender): really sketchy 'scientist' who has proof of Dr. Bava's cooperation with Dark Ticket Ops.

GENERAL BLOCH: Military person and professional denier of government involvement in Nasty Shite.

F.O.X.E.S: Ninja Class: Reunion

This is our second serial in the comedic spy-fi martial arts series featuring a team of female spies and their pet ocelot, Mr. Whistler.

NINJAS/NINJA BELLHOPS: Martial artists who make shouty sounds of hitting and getting hit

NINJA MESSENGER: Spokesperson for the Ninjas. Does not need to have a Japanese accent.

RON: School reunion attendee; former football bro who peaked in high school.

CHERYL: Ron's wife; ex-cheerleader

AKI: Head mean-girl of a trio of ninja women who used to antagonize Yuki, one of the main characters of F.O.X.E.S.

UMI: Aki's right-hand woman. Also a mean-girl, but could be reasoned with.

DEE-DEE: The third member of our Mean Girl Trio...who for some reason sports a Valley Girl accent.

YOUNG AKI, UMI and DEE-DEE: Our mean girls in their younger days.

YOUNG YUKI: the adolescent version of one of our heroes, and not the calm, centered and non-plussed action mistress she is today; here she is nervous and shy.

We're also looking for a couple of new members of our 'repertory' to handle minor roles.  Members of our rep always step up to featured roles in future production; these position would be perfect for someone just starting out in voice acting and looking to build up their reel.

If you would like to attend the open call, please email us at 8twinfo@gmail.com with your voice reel (or a link).  Thank you for considering working with us!

Here Comes F.O.X.E.S.! Lightning Bolt: Resurrection Debuts on May 28th with new Sound Designer Bren Thoreson!

As we enter the 'Spring Hiatus' for Stranger In Paradise: I Dream of You with the release of the 16th episode this Friday, Ocadecagonagon Theater Works prepares for its next entry into the 8TW Audioverse with a new person behind the engineering board.

"After recording Death Code: Ninja, I knew I wanted David Ellis to continue telling stories about Yuki and Sally," Creative Director Thomas Deja said.  "So I challenged him to come up with another adventure based on another obscure spy-fi film...and he came back to me with an document outlining our favorite female fighters' next few adventures--including character arcs and everything.  It felt natural to welcome the Federal Operative eXecutive for Espionage and Security to our little universe of original audio drama heroes and heroines."

Joining Yuki (Femmie London), Sally (Lauren A. Kennedy) and their faithful pet ocelot Mr. Whistler will be sound designer Bren Thoreson.  "We've been looking to add a second sound designer to staff for a while," Deja explains, "and he wowed us with the work he did on a rough cut of Lightning Bolt: Resurrection's first episode.  So it was natural to offer him the entire serial.

"I am a new editor in training on this project," Bren says.  "I enjoy anime/manga, comics, martial arts films, TTRPGs that aren't D&D, and listening to audio books and podcasts. My other work can be found at Splinters of Jade Pod an Legend of the Five Rings thriller actual play podcast, and Fortune and Strife another L5R Actual Play by the Court Games Network over on d20radio.com."

Bren will also be tackling our next Feature Length Audioplay, Women's Prison Massacre, presently scheduled for a late Summer release.

The first episode of Lightning Bolt: Resurrection, also featuring the voice talents of Vanessa Van Zerr, Nicole Thomte and Jamal McKinley, will drop this May 28th.  Keep checking this site for more news!

TREKKER ENTERS PRODUCTION--MEET THE CAST!

While work on Strangers In Paradise: I Dream of You starts to reach its conclusion, the Ocadecagonagon Theater Works prepares to turn its attention to its next featured adaptation, an audio drama of the first storyline of Ron Randall's future noir Trekker.

Show runner Gene Hendricks, who wrote and will direct this three parter to be broadcast in the late summer, says, "I am really excited to be moving forward with Trekker. It's a great story and the talented people that have been cast will bring something special to the parts. We had such a wonderful group audition for the roles that it made my job really tough, but those are the best kinds of problems to have."

Playing Randall's iconic bounty hunter will be Amy Riddle, who is about to become a menacing presence as Tambi in SiP.  Mercy's confidante and best friend Molly will be Femmie London, who plays the secret agent/martial artist Yuki in our feature presentation Death Code: Ninja and its upcoming sequel, Lightning Bolt Resurrection.  Alex, Mercy's uncle and her police source, will be played by David Ellis, who floored people when he took over as David in Stranger In Paradise: I Dream of You.  And playing Bolt, the Rigel agent whose path frequently crosses with Mercy, will be Jamil McKinley, one of our new recruits who you'll hear later this month in a lead role in Lightning Bolt: Resurrection.

"When 8TW came together surprisingly quickly, the intention has always been to explore and celebrate a wide variety of genres and tones," Creative Director Thomas Deja says, "and Ron Randall's unique mash-up of film noir, crime and sci-fi is going to be loads of fun for us to bring to life, and hopefully fun for fans of both Ron's series and audio drama in general!  I cannot wait to hear the interpretations these actors will bring to these key roles, and I am really looking forward to the soundscapes our Sultan of Sound Design Chris Honeywell will come up with.."

Recording on Trekker will begin on May 30th.  To continue following thia project, please visit us at 8TW.ninja

8TW Update 4/7 (STRANGERS IN PARADISE: THE AUDIO DRAMA, F.O.X.E.S, TREKKER and more!)

Terry's original layout for the
cover of I Dream of You
Welcome to April everybody!  I trust the 2021 Spring Celebration of Your Choice was wondrous and fun as we continue bulling our way through these weird times.

Now that we're back from Spring Break (No, we do not have any risque pictures to share), we've hit the ground running.  We hope you're enjoying I Dream of You, the second season of Strangers In Paradise: The Audio Drama.  "I'm particularly proud of the musical sequence of last episode, which brought Pamela Jean Agaloos' bluesy vocals together with Liz Hanley's masterful piano arrangement," adapter/director Thomas Deja points out.  "And wait until you hear what Chris Honeywell put together for the opener of this week's episode."  The first half of Season Two will be running through May 14th.

As for 8TW's other adaptation, we begin setting the wheels in motion for this summer's first season of Ron Randall's  retro-sci-fi tale Trekker.  Show runner Eugene R. Hendricks will be conducting auditions for the production to be recorded in the coming weeks.  "Trekker is a throwback to the old style detective stories, even though it's set in the future. We will be needing a wide variety of character voices for this, to show just how wide the world is. New people are highly encouraged to try out for a part," he says.  If you'd like to try out for this serial, please send us a voice reel and request sides for the major characters at info@8tw.ninja!

Also on deck this Sunday will be the beginning of recording of Lightning Bolt: Resurrection, the first serial of the F.O.X.E.S. line, featuring characters created by David Ellis for Death Code: Ninja.  "I’ve had so much fun returning to Yuki, Sally, Friday, and Mr. Whistler from Death Code: Ninja, and the new characters have been a joy to write as well," David mentions.  "Can’t wait to hear it all acted out."  David has already submitted mini-outlines for the next couple of serials, which means we will be able to provide adventures of everyone's favorite spy-fi martial artists (and their super-intelligent pet ocelot) for months to come!

(And if you haven't heard the adventure that launched F.O.X.E.S., the Death Code: Ninja Box Set is still available at our temporary pop-up store for $5!)

And if that wasn't enough, David has also scripted the next episode of Public Domain Comic Theater, "The Monster God of Rogor."  Expect it to come down the pike after I Dream of You is done.

Over the next few updates, we plan on introducing some of our newest members (some of whom will be making their debut in Lightning Bolt: Resurrection and the next episode of Eileen Thorne!).  Keep watching this space as we continue to grow our own little corner of the internet and make the world Safe For Audio Drama!

8TW Update 3/26 (PUBLIC DOMAIN COMIC THEATER, STRANGERS IN PARADISE: THE AUDIO DRAMA, OUR NEW WEBSITE and more!)

Good day, everyone!  It's time to ask, 'Are You Ready for I Dream of You?'  Because...well, it's here!

The second season of our audio adaptation of Terry Moore's comic classic Strangers in Paradise begins today over at the Two True Freaks Network.  Because the story is so large, we're breaking it up into two parts--eight episodes running through May, with the remainder of the series starting in July.  "This is a major point in the arc of our heroines," explains writer/director Thomas Deja, " and has some massive tonal shifts that flesh out backstories and raise new questions.  I wanted to make sure the whole I Dream of You storyline be given the proper space to breathe--and proper time for us to make sure it's the best possible experience the fans of this property can have."

"And don't worry--we'll be presenting the SiP Season Two Part One Omnibus on June 25th, so fans can be refreshed on what's going on."

During the break, we've got the four part F.O.X.E.S serial written by David Ellis, Lightning Bolt: Resurrection, and a new episode of Eileen Thorne.

Do not hesitate to drop us a line at our new official email--info@8tw.ninja--and let us know what you thought about the premiere of I Dream of You, and the series in general!  This is made by fans for fans, so we want your input!

What did you think of Greg Lamberson's turn in our Public Domain Comic Theater presentation, 'Kate's Seven Day Wonder'?  The numbers have been encouraging, but we'd like to know--would you enjoy more surprise guest stars?  While you're at it, now that we've tackled westerns and science fiction in our showcase for pre-Code comicdom, what genre would you like to see us tackle next?  David Ellis is writing the script for Episode Eight as we speak, and we'd love to know what kind of stories you want our beleaguered Horror Host to tell!

You may have noticed we've provided a new email address.  Well that's because we now have our very own website: 8tw.ninja!  Right now, we've only got what we usually put up on our blog (ocadecgonagon.blogspot.com), but in the coming weeks we will shape it into a place more befitting our felinesque proclivities.  We welcome any suggestions on what you'd like to ultimately see on our little piece of internet real estate.  This is hopefully the beginning of moving into the modern age, including the establishment of a dedicated Patreon, Ko-Fi and other goodies.  But eve at this primitive point in our evolution, you gotta admit the new url is so much easier and fun to say.  It's certainly a relief to our official Outro Announcer!

So enjoy the next episode of our adaptation of Terry Moore's classic, and we'll see you next week for Episode Ten!

8TW Update 3/12 (PUBLIC DOMAIN COMIC THEATER, EILEEN THORNE, BOX SETS and more!)

Good day, everyone!  Don't worry; thing'll get warmer soon enough.

This Sunday we had a special recording session as we hosted noted writer/director Greg Lamberson.  Greg is busy preparing to shoot his latest film, Guns of Eden (which you can help crowdfund by going to his Indiegogo between now and April 1st), and in addition to our producing a special promo spot for him, we welcomed him to play one of the bad guys in 'Kate's Seven Day Wonder,' a Public Domain Comic Theater production coming next Friday, March 19th.  We all had a ball doing our first western story; let's just say there were multiple cow imitations devised.

But what about this Friday, you ask?  Well, today we continue the adventures of everyone's favorite aide to discovery, Eileen Thorne, Freelance Lab Assistant!  In 'No Late Fees For Death,' Eileen and her new ally Leda find themselves in an alternate dimension without their library cards.  I know you think that might not have much of an impact, but trust us...it'll make sense.  All this plus Gland Grenades!  And it's going down this week on our feed, which can be located at the Two True Freaks site.

(and if you've been digging our favorite graduate of the Polidori Institute, why not follow her on Twitter?  Just look up @EileenThorneFLA and learn more about her and her world!)

Please remember that our first feature production, Death Code: Ninja, is now available in our pop-up shop for $5.  This box contains not only the full cast audio drama but a Behind The Scenes featurette and a look at the film that inspired the drama, one of the notorious stitched together 'ninja' features by the legendary Godfrey Ho.  If you've become a fan of 8TW, purchasing this (as well as our Public Domain Comic Theater box set and our ringtones) is presently the best way to support us in our work.  Purchasing our productions allows us to finance future projects and upgrade equipment, and we thank you with some interesting and informative extras.  And if you liked last week's Beauties and The Beast--available on our feed throughout the month of March--we're already hard at work at that feature's extras, including interviews with both our monsters.  Although, after doing a search for a streaming version of the original film for our 'Come To The Movie' segment, we're going to have to rethink what we're going to add into the box set.  If you have any suggestions, please email us at ocadecagonagontheaterworks@gmail.com or comment in our Facebook Group and Twitter and let us know!

See you next week for 'Kate's Seven Day Wonder,' and remember--the week after, we begin the next leg of Strangers In Paradise: The Audio Drama, I Dream of You!

8TW Update 3/4 (STRANGERS IN PARADISE: THE AUDIO DRAMA, BEAUTIES AND THE BEAST, DEATH CODE:NINJA and more!)

Good day, everyone! We're almost done with winter, so have hope!

The big news this week is to welcome the latest player in our band of misfits, Liz Hanley!

Irish-American singer and fiddler Liz Hanley is a nomad splitting her time between her native Boston, the heart of New York City, and her favorite steel town in the hills, Sheffield, England. Hailed by the Irish Echo as a “versatile performer”, Hanley was trained in classical violin and voice, marinated in Irish traditional music and tumbled in the rock ’n roll dryer. Vents Magazine recognizes her “crystal-clear, instantly ingratiating voice that has always been a hallmark of progressive folk-rock” and Irish Music Magazine celebrated her “uncanny knack and the distinctive voice to reawaken our interest in the familiar”. Liz will be joining us in the repertory for Strangers In Paradise: The Audio Drama and will star in the latest Public Domain Comics Theater, 'Kate's Seven Day Wonder'.

Tomorrow will see the premiere of our first 8TW After Dark production, the feature-length Beauties and The Beast, starring Michael Bailey as the titular beast and Lauren A. Kennedy and Nicole Thomte as the titular beauties.  There's even a special guest appearance by renown podcaster Luke Jaconetti as Anzu, the Sumerian Demon Fire Bird.  This tale features copious audio nudity, some extreme violence and gratuitous hippie pagan rituals.  Like Death Code: Ninja, it was inspired by the box art and copy of the 1974 softcore film.  "I am not looking forward to visiting the original for our 'Come to the Movies,' as it seems to be just a guy in a Bigfoot costume carrying off pretty girls," Writer and Director Thomas Deja said.  "But I am proud of what we came up with, as our desire to do a typically 8TW Valentine's Day special became a really cool romp with a unique point of view."  Beauties will be available on our Two True Freaks feed for through April 2nd.

As for Death Code: Ninja, the bombastic martial arts spy mini-feature that will lead into the Audiomatic Universe production Lightning Bolt: Resurrection, it will soon be available at our pop-up shop for $5.  In addition to the adventure itself, you will be getting an exclusive Behind The Scenes interview and the aforementioned 'Come To The Movies' segment, where Thomas actually views the Godfrey Ho 'classic' that inspired the audio play.  Remember, guys...right now this is the best way to throw some support our way so we can continue to grow and expand as an audio drama troupe.

(You might have noticed our reference to the 'Audiomatic Universe'...would we be a purveyor of media goodness without trying to create our own 'shared universe' for marketing purposes?  More on that later...although you might want to pay attention to Episode 3 of Eileen Thorne when it drops on the 19th....)

Don't forget to take a look at friend of the troupe Greg Lamberson's Indiegogo campaign for his upcoming action thriller Guns of Eden.  Greg will be appearing in an upcoming episode of The Honeywell Experiment, the podcast Thomas Deja and Chris Honeywell do on Grindhouse Cinema...and we're trying to convince him to lend his voice to an upcoming production.

Don’t forget to follow our Twitter (maintained by Bernice, Our Social Media Cat) @Ocadecagonagon and join our Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/164149742068310/.  If you'd like to lend a little support to our efforts, visit our temporary pop-up shop at https://ko-fi.com/thomasdeja/shop

See you tomorrow for our trip into the woods, and the continued countdown to the launch of Season Two of Strangers In Paradise: The Audio Drama on March 26th!

8TW Update 2/25 (STRANGERS IN PARADISE: THE AUDIO DRAMA, PUBLIC DOMAIN COMICS THEATER, BEAUTIES AND THE BEAST and more!)

Good day, friends!  Are you ready for I Dream of You? We sure are!

This Sunday marked our first full recording session for the second season of our adaptation of Terry Moore's classic--and our first recording session with our new David, David Ellis.  David worked hard with our Katchoo, Lauren A. Kennedy, on several key scenes in the first few episodes.

“I am blown away by the chance to play David," says Ellis of taking over the male lead of our production. "He’s such an interesting character with a surprising amount of facets. Portraying those facets has been a joy and a challenge so far, and I can’t wait for more."

Since I Dream of You is such a large book, we will be dividing this season into two parts.  The first part will run from March 27th to May 14th.  The SiP crew will be taking a month off before wrapping up this phase of the story in the summer.  Don't worry, though; we've got Lightning Bolt: Resurection (featuring the return of Sally, Yuki and...oh, yeah, Mr. Whistler from Death Code: Ninja!) in store for you during the break as the 8TW Audiomatic Universe continues to expand....

Tomorrow, we've got another episode of Public Domain Comics Theater for you.  This one is a little different from our previous productions in this line, as it is our first collaboration with the Fizz Fop 1 YouTube channel.  Darrin, the mastermind behind that channel's great essay on forgotten heroes of the Golden, Silver and Bronze Age of Comics, has hand-chosen an adventure of Basil Wolverton's classic hero Spacehawk.  "I am a massive Wolverton fan," Writer/Director Thomas Deja says of the character's creator.  "He was one of those artists who was a true original, so I was delighted when Darrin asked me if I was interested in bringing the Lone Wolf of The Void to life.  Eugene R. Hendricks brought the right sense of square-jawedness to his portrayal, and we all had loads of fun making this happen."

Of course, next week our 'feature marquee' changes, as Death Code: Ninja gets sent to our pop-up shop to make way for Beauties and The Beast. This week, our Special Guest Kaiju Actor Luke Jaconetti of Earth Destructive Directive, submitted his voice tracks for the thrilling climax of this, our first 8TW After Dark production.  It'll be available on the web for the month of March, and it'll be full of violence, nudity and sex...the perfect Grindhouse package to warm up these cold months!

Don’t forget to follow our Twitter (maintained by Bernice, Our Social Media Cat) @Ocadecagonagon and join our Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/164149742068310/.  If you'd like to lend a little support to our efforts, visit our temporary pop-up shop at https://ko-fi.com/thomasdeja/shop.

8TW Update 2/18 (EILEEN THORNE: FREELANCE LAB ASSISTANT, STRANGERS IN PARADISE: THE AUDIO DRAMA, PUBLIC DOMAIN COMICS THEATER)

Good day, my friends!  Hope all is well in this weird weathery time!

By now, you've heard the debut episode of Eileen Thorne: Freelance Lab Assistant (and if you haven't, go here and check it out, because it is truly amazing. "The chemistry between Vanessa Van Zerr and Anna Crawford is simply amazing...whenever I sit down to write Eileen and Leda, I always end up grinning," Writer/Director Thomas Deja says.  Episode Two, 'My Burden, My Sister,' drops tomorrow, which sees Eileen and her new sidekick/partner enter an alien landscape and learn about River Theory while dodging moose eagles and other...interesting creatures.  The third episode is already written, and is scheduled to drop next month, just before....

After taking a break for...that day (most of our actors and writers have significant others....and those that don't have cats), Strangers In Paradise: I Dream of You continues recording this Sunday with one of the more complex scenes the 8TW has tackled so far.  "Episode Nine is mainly one long sequence composed of interconnected scenes that impact our three main characters," Deja explains.  "If this was a movie, it'd one of those complex tracking shots that seem like it's all done in one take.  This is going to be...fun?...to 'choreograph' sonically."  Our adapter is still hewing as close to Terry Moore's original creation as possible while translating the saga of Francine and Katchoo.  But people who think they know what this audio drama is all about are going to be taken off guard.  "There's one scene coming up that, if our actors pull it off, will be a total gut punch.  Even though we touched on some serious issues in the first season, here is where Terry brings the noir to this light, semicomedic soap opera."

Before I Dream of You debuts on March 27th, we've got another little surprise.  Eugene R. Hendricks, who has memorably played some featured creatures in the first season of Public Domain Comics Theater writes the third episode in its second season...and it's a western!  We here at 8TW always intended PDCT to explore all the genres that were popular in the Golden and early Silver Age of Comics, and 'Kate's Seven Day Wonder' is an example of an oater with some strange elements--like being set in what was then the modern age, and featuring a female lead..

"At one point in time, Westerns were the biggest segment in the entertainment industry, and comic books were no different. They were so pervasive that the story ideas seemed to be reused over and over," Eugene says about the story he chose to adapt.  "K-Bar Kate, the star of 'Kate's Seven Day Wonder,' is one of the exceptions. A strong, intelligent woman with her own goals, Kate was one of the few female characters to head up her own stories."  And considering that Eugene's next major project is Trekker, the adaptation of Ron Randall's retrofuture crime thriller....which has two very strong female characters at its center, this story seems a natural warm-up.

We'd also like to take a moment to invite you once again to visit our temporary pop-up shop and consider buying the Public Domain Comic Theater Box Set or some of our brand new ringtones.  At this point, this is how we support ourselves so that we can continue building our troupe and giving those artists at least something at the end of the day.  The intention this year is to open up a more dedicated Ko-Fi, as well as a Patreon and other ways for you to support us, but until we get that up and running, buying our wares is all we got.  There'll be more items available soon, including a box set for Death Code: Ninja in March and Beauties and The Beast in April, both of which will include interviews and special features, so visit https://ko-fi.com/thomasdeja/shop and consider bringing some of our audio goodness home with you!

8TW Update 2/12 (STRANGERS IN PARADISE: THE AUDIO DRAMA, BEAUTIES AND THE BEAST, EILEEN THORNE: FREELANCE LAB ASSISTANT)

Good day, my friends!
I hope all is well.  Are you busy?  We've been busy!

The biggest news is a somewhat sad one.  It seems that Riley Maness, who was David in our first season of Strangers in Paradise: The Audio Drama, has stepped down.  To carry on with this most vital role, our very own David Ellis will be stepping in as of the premiere of our second season, I Dream of You, on March 26th.  And don't worry--recording for this next phase in the story of Francine and Katchoo began this Sunday!

And speaking of the inestimable Mr. Ellis, today he enters the 8TW virtual studio with Michael Bailey, Lauren A! Kennedy and others to wrap up recording for next month's feature-length presentation, Beauties and The Beast.  This one is definitely for adults, and will be marked as our first 8TW After Dark production.  Just as Death Code: Ninja took its cues from the ninja suspense films cobbled together by Godfrey Ho, Beauties and The Beast takes its inspiration from the grimy, somewhat softcore horror flicks of the early 70's.  We've got hippies.  We got a Sasquatch.  We got lots of gratuitous audio nudity.  We even got a love scene involving the previously mentioned Sasquatch.  The intention is to release it on our usual feed for one month. after that, you'll get a ten minute tease....if you want the full experience, you'll have to buy the box set. Don't worry; we're going to have lots of extras to make it worth your while.  Beauties begins its theatrical run on March 5th.

And you might want to visit our feed right now as it features the debut of Eileen Thorne: Freelance Lab Assistant.  We've been planning this since Vanessa Van Zerr originated the character in the PDCT episode 'Monster of the Bayous.'  Follow Eileen on a typical assignment...and learn about one of her darkest secrets!  "Judging from the first two episodes we recorded, this may be our most fun work to date.  I strongly suggest that if you liked what we've done so far, you don't miss this," Director Thomas Deja says.

"I'm always happpy to recoil from the monsters," adds Vanessa.

Lend Us Your Voice! Join 8TW for the 2nd Season of STRANGERS IN PARADISE: THE AUDIO DRAMA!

Hey, friends.  You've heart our first season of Terry Moore's landmark comic in both serialized and audiobook form.

As you may know, we are about to record Season Two, covering the I Dream of You storyline.

This season will feature loads of new characters and a grander scope.  That means we need a couple of new voice actors to our merry band of mad folks.

Ideally, we'd like to add four to six new voice actors.  Please keep in mind this is NOT a paid gig; the one stipulation Terry put on us when he gave us permission to adapt his work was that it be strictly a fan production.  What you will be getting is a fun experience with some fun people, a creative outlet that's nurturing and encouraging, and an opportunity to participate in other productions we have in the hopper that we plan on monetizing.

(Yeah, we also offer 'exposure' and 'a platfrom' for you talents, but our Creative Director knows how those words are used to trick you into working for free.  We're not like that, but if you're looking to bulk up your voice reel for other work, well...)

If you would like to be part of this production, please contact Creative Director Thomas Deja at ocadecagonagontheaterworks@gmail.com.  If you have a voice reel, please include it in your inquiry.

8TW Update 2/1 (BEAUTIES AND THE BEAST, EILEEN THORNE, STRANGERS IN PARADISE Season Two)

Good day, my friends and welcome to February!  We've been busy as the weather gets colder, snowier, and prolly more cumbersome.

Last Friday, in addition to the release of VHS Box Theater: Death Code: Ninja for its one month 'theatrical run,' Beauties and The Beast director Thomas Deja and Sultan of Sound Design Chris Honeywell got together with Nicole Thomte and Vanessa Van Zerr to welcome our star performer for this audio epic, and our newest member, Michael Bailey!  Comic book podcast fans should be very familiar with Michael's dulcet tones, as he is the maven of the Fortress of Baileytude network, providing podcast-y goodness for years as well as being one of the foremost Superman fans in the country.  "Michael is the closest friend I have who I haven't been in the same room with...yet," Thomas says.  "He is as enthusiastic about the medium as I am, so I was eager to get him involved...and when this cryptid romance started coming together, he felt like a natural to play our eloquent yet savage sasquatch."

Michael did the first chunk of narration as well as key scenes with Nicole, playing secondary female lead Cloud, and Vanessa.  More recording will commence next Friday, with Michael doing more narration and scenes with our female lead, the great Lauren A. Kennedy!  More on this as we get closer to Beauties' March 5th release date!

Sunday we all got together to record the second episode of Eileen Thorne.  Vanessa, Anna Crawford and Pamela Jean Agaloos were joined by Nicole in chronicling Eileen's pursuit of her evil twin sister into the Quantum Cloacca. These recordings are the ones where everyone seems to be having the most fun, with plenty of laughs and guffaws...and more material for future episodes!

Of course, fans of Terry Moore's Strangers in Paradise will be pleased to know that next week we begin recording the second season, which will debut in March!  This season will cover the second collection, I Dream of YouWe are still looking for new voice actors to fill out some major characters in that story, so if you're a fan of Moore, have your Sundays free, and are willing to do this for the love of the property and the medium (The only stipulation Terry put on us when he gave his blessing was that this remain strictly a fan work) please contact us at ocadecagonagontheaterworks@gmail.com with your voice reel!

(You can also contact us at the above email with comments on our past productions, requests for future productions, other thoughts and offers of pastries.  We like pastries.)

Don’t forget to follow our Twitter (maintained by Bernice, Our Social Media Cat) @Ocadecagonagon and join our Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/164149742068310/.  And join us this Friday to see what we've got in store for you!

8TW Update 1/29 (DEATH CODE: NINJA Premiere, EILEEN THORNE, STRANGERS IN PARADISE MEGAMIX 1)

Good day, friends!  We're just about to the point where we survived this first month of 2021.  Congratulations!

Earlier this week, we not only proceeded with the recording of Beauties and The Beast, but put the first episode of Eileen Thorne: Freelance Lab Assistant in the can with Vanessa Van Zerr, Anna Crawford and Pamela Jean Agaloos.  This serial takes the breakout star of the second Public Domain Comic Theater, Monster of the Bayous and launches her into her own story, starting with a...typical?...day at the office that has grave implications for her.  There was a great sense of fun in the session between our three stars and we can't wait to introduce you to this, the first corner of the Ocadecagonagon Audiomatic Universe.

Now, we do have some bad news...since we here at the 8TW are still at the point where we're doing this for the love of the medium--although we hope that will slowly change--we've decided to change around our schedule.  The main change is the decision to delay release of Beauties and The Beast back to March 5th to accommodate some of our actor's real life commitments.  But don't worry too much...in response to many requests, in its place we will be presenting the first Strangers In Paradise Megamix, a complete version of Season One that you can listen to in one sitting.  Our hope is that we can produce a Megamix after ever season (or partial season, as those of you familiar with Katchoo and Francine's story knows how large I Dream of You is) to keep you sated on Terry Moore goodness in the meantime.

To check out our revised schedule, just go here

Today, of course, marks the beginning of the 'theatrical run' of our first VHS Box Theater, Death Code: Ninja.  This martial arts spy movie for your ears will be available on the Two True Freaks Network  only until February 28th.  On March 1st, we'll remove the full drama, although you can still check out the first ten minutes on the site.  And on March 5th, you'll be able to buy Death Code:Ninja for five dollars in full and also get special interviews and features at the temporary pop-up shop.

(There's something else coming to the pop-up shop....but we keep quiet on that one....might want to hang on the telephone a lil' while longer...)

Don’t forget to follow our Twitter (maintained by Bernice, Our Social Media Cat, who plays Mr. Whistler in Death Code: Ninja!) @Ocadecagonagon and join our Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/164149742068310/.  And check in next week to see what else we have in store for you!

8TW Update 1/21 (STRANGERS IN PARADISE: THE AUDIO DRAMA Season Two, PUBLIC DOMAIN COMIC BOOK THEATER, and more!)

Good afternoon, friends!  We are definitely still alive, just dealing with some obstacles...like the dying of our latest computer.  Oh, we're still producing more audio drama, still preparing new productions (If you knew what our Sultan of Sound Design, Chris Honeywell, just found a recording of, you would. Not. Believe. It)...it's just that we're working on a long-outdated computer which is making regular postings...problematic.  But we're on top of things, and once everything is back to normal, we'll be conducting normal services!

How did you feel about our first season of Strangers In Paradise: The Audio Drama?  As you know, we dropped the finale this past Friday, so we're anxious to hear your feedback.  We're already in the process of putting the scripts for Season Two, adapting the I Dream of You collection, together with the first five scripts in the can and we're on the lookout for new voice talents willing to give life to some of the new characters who are debuting during that season.  If you're interested in helping us bring Terry Moore's epic to life, have Sunday free, and want to have fun along the way, go here and audition!  Remember, presently this is purely for the love of audio drama, but we hope to get to a point during this new year where we can offer everyone a little something.

Now, with SiP Season One done, we've still got stuff lined up for your Fridays.  Tomorrow, for example, we'll be presenting a new Public Domain Comic Book Theater...namely The Pit of Horror.  It's a tale of old New York treachery, greed and...rats!  Then next week our first VHS Box Theater, Death Code: Ninja will begin its month-long availability on the Two True Freaks network before becoming our second box set in February.  You'll still be able to hear a brief ten minute drama tease after that...but for the full experience of this David Ellis penned martial arts spy fi epic, along with extras like behind-the-scenes interviews and something we like to call Come To The Movies, where Creative Director Thomas Deja watches the film whose box art and copy inspired the drama and shares his thoughts with you, you'll need to pony up five dollars.  Death Code:Ninja's free release runs from January 29th to February 28th if you want to check it out!

After Death Code: Ninja, we've got more Public Domain Comic Theaters (including our venture into sci-fi heroics with Spacehawk, in an adventure chosen for us by Darrin of Fizz Fop!), the first episode or two of Elaine Thorne, and Beauties and The Beast, our first '8TW After Dark' production that's for you grown-ups; you kids stay away!

We had a general meeting during our radio silence, and made plans for this summer's first Trekker adaptation (Thanks to creator Ron Randall, who dropped by, answered questions and shared ideas with us to make this a fine retro-future noir!), as well as three new production lines that will be popping up later in the year, including a show focusing on folk tales from around the world and something that may be of interest to people who read a certain pair of books from Airship 27 a few years back....

Don’t forget to follow our Twitter (maintained by Bernice, Our Social Media Cat) @Ocadecagonagon and join our Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/164149742068310/And check in tomorrow for our beloved Horror Host's latest foray into four-color fear, Public Domain Comic Book Theater: The Pit of Horror!

CASTING FOR SEASON TWO OF STRANGERS IN PARADISE: THE AUDIO DRAMA BEGINS! MEET OUR EMMA

As season one of our adaptation of Terry Moore’s classic wraps up, we are proud to announce the casting of Pamela Jean Agaloos as Emma...the key to opening a whole Pandora’s Box of intrigue and suspense revolving around Katchoo’s past!

Pamela Jean is an active musician in the trad scene in New York City. Born to Filipino parents in a US Naval Base in Chicago, she has a background in musical theater that began in the Philippines, where she lived until 2011. She also participates in folk sings like Exceedingly Good Song Night and the Sunnyside Singers Club, and is also a guest vocalist for the Celtic Rock band New York Brogue. Pamela makes Iona Bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn her session home, which has hosted and attracted top-notch talent from the city and around the world.

“Emma may not be the biggest role, but she is a major part of I Dream of You.  As we’re going to see in flashbacks, Emma is a mentor and partner to Katchoo during the years she was missing from Houston.  I thought of Pam immediately, especially since I knew she was a kick-ass singer, which means the titular song of this arc will be brought vividly to life.  She’s got the style and the confidence to make Emma vivid in all aspects.”

Season Two, I Dream of You, introduces a number of new characters, including Darcy, a character whose actions have very far reaching repercussions, and Francine’s mother and uncle.  8TW is actively auditioning people for these and other roles (well, maybe not for Francine’s uncle; there’s a certain Sultan of Sound Design who may very well be perfect!). If you’d like to audition for this band of mouthy types, please contact us at ocadecagonagontheaterworks@gmail.com.  A familiarity with Terry’s work is helpful, but not necessary.  Please do keep in mind that, due to rights issues, Strangers In Paradise: The Audio Drama is strictly a fan work..
